Things to do after kids reach India:

o Register kids at a local US Consulate in India
US Consulate in Mumbai (http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/)
US Embassy in New Delhi (http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/)
US Consulate in Chennai (http://chennai.usconsulate.gov/)

o Register kids at local police station every 6 months

Getting ready for travel with US born kids

First thing I need to do is to make sure following documents are in order and are not expired or are with 6 months of expiry for my US born kids:

o US passport
o PIO Card
o SSN
o Birth Certificate (get enough copies as photocopy marks it as void)
o School records
o Vaccination record
o Medical records from Pediatrician
o Enough family photos with kids showing their progression (not sure about this, but came across somewhere in the net that it is required to renew kids US passports in India)
